'With T20 cricket...': Gautam Gambhir on Team India's aggressive approach in Tests

NEW DELHI: Under head coach Gautam Gambhir, the Indian cricket team is showcasing an aggressive approach playing fearless cricket and making tactical decisions for the team’s benefit.
Backing the approach, Gambhir said that now with T20 cricket around, there won’t be many draws in Test cricket.
“Draws are boring. With T20 cricket around, I don’t think we will see a lot of draws in Tests,” Gambhir said on Wednesday while addressing a press conference on the eve the second Test against New Zealand in Pune.

As it has always been the case, the home team is playing their cards close to their chest regarding the likely combination and playing XI.
“In any Test match, picking up a playing XI is always tough. It is always good to have competition,” Gambhir added on the Indian playing XI for the second Test.
New Zealand lead the three-match series following their eight-wicket victory in Bengaluru.
It was a humbling experience for the mighty hosts who entered the series after completing a 2-0 sweep of Bangladesh including winning the Kanpur Test after a majority of the game was affected by rain.
“Cricket, sports are a big leveller. If we have enjoyed days like Kanpur we had to endure what happened in Bengaluru. We didn’t show any intention to bat out the remainder of the two and a half days,” Gambhir said of the defeat in Bengaluru where India were shot for 46 in the first innings, their lowest-ever total at home.
Winning the next two Tests will be first priority for Rohit Sharma and his men before they go to Australia for a five-Test series.
