NEW DELHI: The Pakistan cricket team is not exactly known for their efforts in the outfield.
There have been numerous videos on the internet where misfieldings, misjudgments and miscommunication have led to hilarious memes.
But two superb efforts in the field by Irfan Khan during the first ODI against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday may force some fans to change their views on Pakistan fielding.
In the 20th over of the Australia innings, bowled by Shaheen Afridi, Irfan Khan gave glimpses of his brilliant fielding efforts off two consecutive deliveries.

Josh Inglis pulled the third ball of the over to the deep square leg fence, where Irfan jumped high in the air and palmed the ball back into play.
But the replays showed that before he jumped, Irfan had the foot on the cushions as he waited to leap. The umpires ruled it a six according to the rules.
Inglis again pulled the very next delivery by Afridi this time slightly towards mid-wicket and Irfan ran towards his left to complete a fine running catch with two hands.
Inglis fell for a 42-ball 49.
Cricket Australia shared the video of the two deliveries on their X handle:

So now it can be said that Pakistan’s fielding has seen improvement over time, but they continue to provide excitement with both skill and the occasional laugh.
