The series is set to start on September 19.
Rohit and Virat Kohli, alongside the entire team and new coaching staff, including bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, assembled in Chennai.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared practice images and stated, “The countdown starts as Team India begin their preps for an exciting home season.”
Rohit arrived in Chennai on Thursday, while Kohli flew in from London. Other key players, including Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, also reached the city on Thursday. The team is focused on bouncing back from the recent ODI series loss to Sri Lanka in August.
This series marks Rohit Sharma’s first Test under Gambhir and his support staff. The team aims to secure vital World Test Championship (WTC) points.
Currently, India lead the WTC table with 68.52 percentage points, followed by Australia with 62.50 percentage points. Bangladesh, coming off a 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan, stand in fourth place with 45.83 percentage points.
The second Test in the India-Bangladesh series will be held in Kanpur from September 27.
