Taking to social media platform X, Surya shared a photo of himself alongside Richards, expressing profound gratitude, “Receiving THE fielding medal from THE Sir Vivian Richards – truly honoured.”
In the match against Bangladesh, Suray’s batting performance was short-lived but impactful.Coming in after the departure of Virat Kohli, he managed to strike a six off the first ball he faced but fell victim to Tanzim Hasan Sakib shortly after, attempting another aggressive shot that resulted in a catch by the wicketkeeper.

India went on to secure a commanding 50-run victory over Bangladesh. Riding on Hardik Pandya‘s explosive 27-ball fifty, India posted their highest score of the tournament so far, reaching 196 for 5 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
Bangladesh, in reply, struggled to keep pace and managed only 146 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs, succumbing to their second defeat in Group 1 of the Super Eight stage.
The win propelled India closer to a semifinal berth in the T20 World Cup 2024. With Yadav’s fielding abilities recognized by a cricketing legend like Viv Richards, it added a personal highlight to his journey in the prestigious tournament.
India will next face Australia in what promises to be a crucial encounter as they aim to secure their spot in the semifinals.
