NEW DELHI: India skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his overwhelming emotions after leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 and subsequently announcing his retirement from the format.
Sharma, who scored 4231 runs in 159 games, retires as the format’s top scorer and holds the record for the most hundreds in T20 internationals with five.
Rohit Sharma is celebrating the culmination of a remarkable career, having won the T20 World Cup twice—first in 2007 as a player and now in 2024 as captain. Reflecting on his achievement, Sharma took to Instagram to share his thoughts.
“This picture epitomises how I’m feeling right now. So many words but can’t find the right ones to express what yesterday meant to me but I will, and I will share them, but right now I’m basking in a dream come true for a billion of us.”

The 37-year-old emphasized that the team’s recent success truly marks a dream come true for him and his billion-strong fanbase.
