Hockey India League signs three-year telecast deal with Sony Sports Network


The latest edition of the Hockey India League (HIL) is set to kick off on December 28 and all matches will be telecasted on the Sony Sports Network, it was announced on Friday.

The league will feature eight men’s teams and four women’s teams, competing across Rourkela and Ranchi.

This year’s edition is historic as it marks the inaugural season of the Women’s Hockey India League which will commence on January 12, when Delhi SG Pipers faces Odisha Warriors in the opener at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi.

The men’s league will feature two stages, with Phase 1 running from December 28 to January 18, during which all teams will face off once. Phase 2 will begin on January 19, with the teams divided into two pools.

HIL Governing Committee Chairperson Dilip Tirkey said, “Our focus has always been on promoting hockey to a wider audience, and this partnership with Sony Sports Network allows us to do just that. With their multilingual telecast plan, we are making the sport accessible to a larger audience, bringing them closer to the game. We believe this season will set a new benchmark in terms of viewership and fan engagement.”
