Ishika Chaudhary became the first player to be picked during the Hockey India League 2024-25 women’s auction in Delhi on Tuesday.
Odisha Warriors bought Ishika, a defender, for Rs 16 lakh.
The auction featured over 250 domestic women’s players and more than 70 overseas players vying for a spot in the league.

The 24-year-old Ishika, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, developed her skills at the MP Women’s Hockey Academy, Gwalior.
She was vice-captain of the Indian team which played at the Junior Women’s World Cup in 2022. She was also a member of the Indian side which won bronze medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games as well as the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023 title.
