Spain qualified for the Euro 2024 round of 16 as the group topper after a 1-0 win against Italy in their Group B contest at the Arena AufSchalke on Friday.
The match’s only goal came in the 55th minute when Italy centre-back Riccardon Calafiori put the ball inside his net.

Nico Williams got the ball on the left side of the box. Dribbling past his marker, he whipped in a cross into the box. Italy keeper and captain Gianluigi Donnarumma got a slight touch on the ball before it deflected off Calafiori into the back of the net.
Nico Williams came close to finding a second for La Roja, but his curling effort from the edge of the box rattled the crossbar.
Spain becomes the second team after host nation Germany to qualify for the next round.
