Duleep Trophy 2024: Mayank Agarwal named India A captain after Shubman Gill’s selection for Bangladesh series

India A will be led by Mayank Agarwal in the ongoing Duleep Trophy after Shubman Gill was named in India’s squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which begins from September 19.

India A lost its campaign opener to India B by 76 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

India A next faces the Shreyas Iyer-led India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur from September 12.

Agarwal scored 36 and 3 in the match against India B while opening the batting with Gill, who is set to reprise his role at No. 3 for India in Test matches.

Gill, however, had a lukewarm outing in the first round of the Duleep Trophy, managing only 25 and 21 in his side’s defeat.
