Behind the scenes: Shaheen Afridi’s heated exchange with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf revealed | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Before the T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies, during Pakistan’s T20I tour of England, pacer Shaheen Afridi had heated arguments with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf, according to sources.
Reports indicate that coaches and management lodged complaints with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi regarding Shaheen’s attitude during the tour.
The confrontation between Shaheen and Yousuf occurred during a training session when Yousuf pointed out Shaheen’s no-balls. Shaheen, apparently frustrated by the repeated criticism, told Yousuf to “mind his own business.”
Yousuf reminded Shaheen that he was simply doing his job as a coach. The situation escalated with heated words exchanged, but Shaheen later apologized.
An ANI report indicated that multiple sources within the Pakistan team management confirmed to Geo News that the issue was resolved quickly and was considered a “heat of the moment” incident. A source described the exchange as a routine occurrence that did not warrant further escalation or reporting to the PCB.
Following Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup, where they crashed out in the group stage, PCB chairman Naqvi summoned white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten to discuss the team’s future. Naqvi also met with former Pakistan cricketers earlier this week to gather suggestions for improving the domestic cricket structure.
