NEW DELHI: Age plays a very important role in the life and career of a sportsperson, including a cricketer. Reflexes, running, core strength, vision all are on the wane as the age of a cricketer progresses.
India cricket legend MS Dhoni defies age with his remarkable fitness, mental sharpness, and adaptable playing style. Even in his forties, he continues to contribute meaningfully to his team with unique factors enabling his sustained performance.
In a viral video, Dhoni is seen answering questions from the audience during an interactive session.
One person amongst the audience asks Dhoni that if he is born in 1981, he is in his early forties then how he looks like he is in his thirties and what’s the mantra behind his fitness.
Dhoni humorously replies, “Sir beard colour and hair colour. Two of the most important things. If I don’t colour my beard and you see me after 2 days, then like you have just said ‘thirties’, you will say that I am looking in my sixties.”
The audience breaks into a laughter at this witty side of the most successful captain in Indian cricket history.
On a serious note, Dhoni’s ability to embrace key fitness aspects and avoid high-impact movements while capitalizing on his mental and technical skills allows him to remain relevant, impactful, and effective on the field despite his age.
