NEW DELHI: Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad didn’t hold back as he hilariously trolled Team India following their shocking Test series defeat to New Zealand.
On his YouTube channel, Shehzad remarked, “New Zealand have come to India and thrashed them as if they had the right to do so, beating them like kids and walking away. They’ve pulled a prank on India. People are now saying, ‘Kagaz ke sher, aur ghar mein dher’ (Tigers on paper, crumbled at home).”
India’s loss to New Zealand was historic, marking the first time in over a decade that they lost a Test series at home.
Rohit Sharma’s side, who were bowled out for just 245 in their second innings, fell short by 113 runs in Pune on Saturday.
This was India’s first home series defeat since England beat them 2-1 in 2012, ending a streak of 18 consecutive bilateral series wins – the longest home run by any team.
“When India were bowled out for 46 runs (in the first Test), Rohit Sharma had said, ‘Everyone has a bad day.’ And we accept that. Absolutely fair. But in this Test match too, the way you’ve played cricket, it seems like you’ve become complacent. Rohit Sharma says that they don’t believe in unnecessary talk, but that spirit was missing in the last two Tests. These two matches have been played in a way that makes it seem like schoolboys were playing,” Shehzad added.
New Zealand Break India’s Winning Streak – Humiliation at Home for India – India vs New Zealand
New Zealand’s victory was spearheaded by Mitchell Santner, who delivered a sensational 7-53 in India’s first innings and took 6-104 in the second.
On a spinning Pune pitch, Santner outplayed India’s own spinners, proving decisive.
India started their final innings aggressively, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring a brisk 77 off 65 balls.
However, Santner’s brilliance derailed their chase. He removed Shubman Gill, trapped Virat Kohli LBW, and ran out Rishabh Pant, leaving India in disarray.
Ajaz Patel sealed the win by dismissing Ravindra Jadeja, ending all hopes of a comeback.
