Thaer Krouma struck a late equaliser as Mumbai City FC held Mohun Bagan Super Giant to a 2-2 draw in the opening match of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Friday.
Mumbai City defender Tiri, who had previously played for Mohun Bagan, was at the receiving end of an unfortunate own goal in the ninth minute when he steered goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa’s failed clearance into his own net.
The Mariners doubled their lead in the 28th minute with new-signing Alberto Rodriguez guiding the ball into the net with a first-time finish.
However, defending ISL title winner Mumbai City launched a second-half comeback, with Tiri pulling one back in the 70th minute and Krouma grabbing the equaliser in the 90th minute.
